Frequently called Polly, she was the Daughter of Franklin’s London landlady, Margaret Stevenson. Suggested by Franklin as a spouse for William Franklin. Visited Franklin at Passy (1785). Moved to Philadelphia (1786). Was with Franklin at his death.

Married in 1770 to William Hewson and was widowed four years later. Mother of two sons and one daughter.
