Member of Parliament (1754-61, 1765-68). Director of the Bank of England (1753-67). Involved in the Walpole Company. Probably Franklin’s banker in England. Partner in the firm of Sargent Aufrere & Cie., which later became Sargent, Chambers and Company.

Married to Rosamond Chambers.
