To Rodolphe-Ferdinand Grand (unpublished)
Philada. April 23. 1788
Dear Friend

I received yours of 18 Xth 87, but the Package announced in it as sent to Havre to come with it, is not yet arrived here from New York. I suppose we shall have it soon, and it will make my Daughter happy.

I drew on you the 31st of March last for One hundred and fifty Pounds sterling in favor of Mr. John Wright Banker in London; And a few days since another Draft in favour of Peter William Gallaudet for Three hundred Pounds Sterling at 30 Days, payable in London. The February Pacquet is as I hear arriv’d, but I have not yet receiv’d your Letter by her, which I hope will bring me the good News of your Welfare and that of the dear Family. I continue as well as for some Years past; and having finished my four Houses, I have done Building, and shall soon have done with public Business, being determined if I live, to decline all other public Employments after the Expiration of that I now hold, which must be in Six Months, our Constitution not permitting the same Person to be President more than three successive Years. I am ever, my dear Friend, yours most affectionately

B Franklin

I have at length receiv’d the Regule d’Antimoine. It arrived first in New England.
Mr Grand
