From the Duc de la Rochefoucauld (unpublished)
Wednesday in the evening

The Duc de la Rochefoucauld is honored to send Mr. Franklin his best regards; he sent the Treaty of Alliance with France and the one with Holland to the printer, for which he arranged publication in La Gazette de Leyde; he asks Mr. Franklin to send him at his earliest opportunity the Treaty with Sweden, if he finds it appropriate to have it printed.

The Academy has just elected Mr. Wargentin to fill the vacancy created by the death of M. Margraff; the election for Mr. Hunter's seat will be held after Easter: the Duc de la Rochefoucauld believes Mr. Priestley's chances are good and he would be happy to second Mr. Franklin's recommendation for a man who merits so well his fame.

Addressed: To his Excellency / Monsieur franklyn Minister of the United States of America / at Passy
