Sir Edward Newenham to William Temple Franklin (unpublished)
Marsailles 8th Decr: 1782
Dear Sir

As the Ladies have fixed to Go to Genoa & Leghorne & Florence in the beginning of the Next month, having got a good oppertunity of an Imperial Ship bound to those Cities & which sails on the fourth of January wind & weather permitting; she is a fine Vessel, mounts 24 Guns & has an Excellent Crew; permit me to request you will get us (particularly one for Lady Newenham) Letters of Introduction to the Counsuls & their Ladies at those places, and to such others, as are convenient; the great Credit & Satisfaction we received here by your former Letters, has brought this Second trouble upon you; I wish I could do the same act of friendship for you or any of your Connections; but as we are total strangers in those places our residence would be rather disagreable without Such Letters—one to the French Embassador at Florence would be of Essential service to us—Monsieur Le Grands Letters were very recieved—I have been in dayly Expectation of hearing from you these 12 or 14 days—

With the Sincerest Respects & highest regards of all this family to his Excellency and you, I remain

Dear Sir with real Esteem your most obliged & most obt Humble Sert.

Edward Newenham

ps—we shall spend some days at Hieres—
