John Thaxter, Jr. to William Temple Franklin (unpublished)
Amsterdam 19th. Decr. 1781.
Dear Sir,

I take the liberty to introduce to your Civilities Dr. Dexter from Boston, who is going from hence to Paris in Company with Messs. Thomas & Joseph Winthrop and Dr. Parker. You will confer a particular Obligation on me by any Attention to these Gentlemen not inconsistent with your Avocation. I am persuaded, I cannot recommend them to a Gentleman more disposed to show Civilities to every one. I forwarded the Journals of Congress for 1778. to his Excellency, whose great Character in the World has rendered these Gentlemen very desirous of paying their Respects to him.

Mr. Fox is very well—I had the pleasure of knowing him in Paris, and was very happy to see him here, for he is a very worthy Character. I am with much Esteem, Sir, your very humble Servt.

J. Thaxter.

W. T. Franklin Esqr.
