Extract of a Letter from the Marquis D’Yranda of Madrid.

One of my friends, Don Sebastian De Calvo Captain of dragoons, knight of the Order of S. Iago, who is of a rich family, full of arduor & an enemy idleness would be glad to serve in America, as a Volunteer only, if there’s no inconveniancy. I beg you would procure from the deputy the strongest recommendaition, in order to have due regard paid to his birth, merit & good will & to Send them to me as soon as possible, for the season advances gradually [in Grand's hand] Mr Grand seroit bien aise s’il etoit agreable à messieurs Les Comissionaires de lui donner La Lettre que son amy lui demande Cy dessus
