From the Baron de Holtzendorff (unpublished)
Paris, January 20, 1779
Sir

Since my having paid you my late visite, I have been always constuntly so ill that I’m scarcely able to walk about in my Room, and I expected in vain to hear from you, respecting the papers I had the honour to hand you as well as that smal sum of paper monney of your country, according your own promise. No doubt, you will have had an opportunity to confer about with the Gentlemen your Collegues. Whereas it concerns me particularly to know your and their intention, may it please your, Sir, to be so Kind as to send me a writen answer by way of the pennings post which goes and comes from Paris to your house and from thence to Paris as soon as possible, for which favour I shall be specially grateful. In case you might have lost my adress, there it is.—Rue du fbg. St. denis la 1er. Portecochere après le Laissez passer, and your letter will be handed to me.

With very much respectful Sentiments I have the honour to remain Sir Your most obedient humble Servant

Baron de holtzendorff

Doctor Franklin.
