Sir.

Deprived of the Honour of being known to Your Excellency, we nevertheless make bold to present our respects, relying on the goodness of Some Patrons and friends in France who will introduce us. If happily we might be esteemed capable of some direct use to your Excellency any commands would be looked upon as signal favours; it would be for us a matter of Pride to be employed by such an eminent person as you Sir. We despair however of enjoying such good fortune, Since the narrow Limits which encompass the Mercantile Sphere, in which we are included will afford, we aprehend, little opportunity of serving your Excellency.

Some of our neighbours, we are apt to believe, have applyed, to your Excellency for getting connections with the Merchants of the american United Provinces; would it be too forward an Intrusion to imitate their Example, and beg to have a Share in that Business? Deluded perhaps by our eagerness, we think it is not. However we hope your Excellency will pardon the Liberty, we plead our Sincerest wishes for the good Success of the commonwealth our Known Integrity in Business and an Experience of many years. Our situation is such that should the american Gentlemen require a proportionable anticipation on their consignements of Goods, we are ready to enter in it on reasonable Terms. We wave further details for the present; fearing to be troublesome and deffer them untill we may have the pleasure of being regularly connected with the Interested in these Matters.

Objects by far more Important we know wholly take up your Excellency’s Leisure: yet it may be thereafter proper to grant ~y2 part of it to settle a correspondence between the Merchantile Inhabitants of both States—and without despising any body, we judge ourselves fully qualifyed to partake that confidence which is placed in our fellow merchants. The atention we hope your Excellence, may please to give our Request, shall create in us the most profound gratitude and acknowledgement.

We beg leave to subscribe ourselves most respectfully. Your Excellency’s Most Humble and most Obeident Servants
