William Pyne to William Temple Franklin (unpublished)
Sunday 3 OClock
Dear Sir

Edward arrived here at 1 OClock and said he left Home at 4 this Morning: that the Mare was entirely knock’d up and that two of the Servants walked from ancocas ferry declaring that they thought it impossible for the Horses to get back this Evening. I have not withstanding ordered them to depart immediately as I look upon it in a great measure only their wish to stay all night in Philadelphia. But I think the heat of the weather and the great load they were to bring back may probably be too much I have determined to stay till the first Burlington Boat unless I can meet with another conveyance I fear the Horses were too much worked and I shall look out for another. Inclosed are all the Papers for you. I am Dear sir yours &c.

Wm. Pyne

I have sent out your Portmanteau if you Please to let Jenney take the things out
