Philadelphia Treasury Office Januy. 6. 1781
In pursuance of a Resolution of Congress of the 5th January 1781—
Ordered, That the following instructions be given to the
Superintendents of the Press. to wit
That they cause bills of Exchange to the amount of five thousand
three hundred and thirty three and a third dollars on the
Honourable Benjamin Franklin Esqr. Minister Plenipotentiary of the
United States at the Court of Versailles at ninety days sight to
be immediately printed with types and copper plate to consist of
three denominations in sets of four bills to each set, according
to the following schedule
That the Bills afsd. be printed conformable in all respects to
the bills printed in pursuance of the directions of this Board for
printing the bills on France in their order of the first of June
last; except that the sums now ordered in these be inserted in the
place of the sums then ordered, and that ninety days sight be
inserted in the place of sixty days Sight.
That as soon as the said bills are prepared the Superintendents
afsd. deliver them to Francis Hopkinson Treasurer of Loans taking
duplicate receipts there for, one of which to be immediately
lodged in this Office.
