Saturday Morning [April 1784]

Mr. Shaffer of Phila begs permision to present his most respectfull Compliments His Excy Docter Franklin in forms his Excy Mr. Shaffer leaves Parris to morrow with the most gratefull inpre setion of the civilitis and protection from Docter Franklin—requests the honour of his Commands to America. As the time is So short Untill his departure—Mr. Shaffer is prevented Rendring his duty to Dr. Franklin in person Will therefore Attend his Commands at the Hotel de L’Empreur Rue Grenell Mr Shaffer is much mortified at not having the opertuenity of rendring personally his respects to Mr T Franklin Esq for his health and happiness and is holy Sensible of his politness
