From John Fletcher (unpublished)

This may certify that the Subscriber received from Mr Henry Bromfield Junr. a Passport Granted by his Excellency Benjamin Franklin Esqr. Minister Plenipotentiary from the United States of America at the Court of Versailles for a Vessell intended to be equipped from this Place on [Auct. or Acct.] Persons therein named. It not being thought eligible to prosecute the Voyage & some Circumstances rendering the Possession of the Paper hazardous I was induced to destroy it, as well to save trouble to myself as others concerned therein. Of which I give this Assurance at the Request of Mr. Bromfield to cancell the Bonds he lay himself under in the Procurement of it.
