From Francis Childs (unpublished)
New York April 18. 1786
Dear Sir

Yours of the 26th ult with a bill of Lading for a Box of Types, inclosed, I had the honor to receive 3 days after date. And yesterday I had the pleasure to receive the Types—which were much wanted. The Petite Romain is not yet perfect—Italic Lowercase jod—i’s are wanting and c’s—but this imperfection is not confined to one fount—all of them need it.

As I have been lately disappointed in getting paper, I shall esteem it a favor if Mr. Bache will order 30 or 40 Reams for me by the first conveyance. He will be able to inform himself of the price by inquiring of Mr. Dunlap. The amount of the paper I will pay to his order 10 days after sight. I should not take the Liberty of making this request to him—only that he was so obliging as to proffer his services. The paper I want is Royal printing.

The gentlemen who does me the honor to deliver this has not time to wait—or I would not have troubled you with this business of making my request to Mr. Bache. My best respects wait you, and believe that I am, Sir, with a gratefull Esteem your Humble Servant
