My Son Jacques Eugene Le Baron 24 years Old, being new resolved to Stay here with me to help me in my business, I Should be very much obliged to you if you would do me the favor to procure him the quality of vice Consul of the United States of America Though I don’t think it can be of any produce to him Since the American Ships do not frequent our harbour, Nevertheless it will be honourable for him, & it will make him free from Some Charges & particularly from Lodging Soldiers; I dare Say it will be very easy for you to obtain that favor from his Excellency your grand father to whom Please to present my best respects, & to tell that my Son being able to speak good English, will be of great use to the persons of your nation who will require his assistance
