From Joseph Wharton, Jr. to William Temple Franklin (unpublished)
Brest Road April 25th. 1779
Dear Sir

I beg you will present my best compliments to Dr. Franklin, and return him my thanks for his most friendly and acceptable Letter in my behalf to Capt Landais. This Gentleman had departed for Nantes the day before I arrived here; so that the occasion of the Letter is for the present postponed; but I shall be much obliged to you to inform me by return of Post, whether the Alliance does not to return to Brest to take the American Vesseles under her convoy, (13 in number) because in this case, I may yet benefit of the Doctors recommendation. With great respect, I am Dear Sir, Your most obed hh Servt
