From John Paul Jones to — Hoogland (unpublished)
On Board the Serapis at the Texel, Nov. 15th. 1779

Pay to the bearer, Mr. John Jackson Pilot of Hull in England, the sum of one hundred Ducats, for service performed on board the Bonh. Richard as Pilot on the Coast of England, and for wages since the 22d. September last until this day, as well as for Smart-money for the loss of his arm in the Action with the Serapis. The said Sum of one hundred Ducats to be charged by Messrs. J. de Neufville & Son to the general account of the Squadron under my Command.
