Know all Men by these Presents that we Henry Farley of Nantes Merchant Jonathan Williams Junr also of Nantes Merchant and John Coggeshall of the State of Rhode Island Marriner and Commander of the Schooner Sally mounting ten Guns and a Chest of Arms navigate[d] by thirty men, are held and firmly bound by these Presents to his Excellency the President of the Continental Congress in the Sum of one thousand Pounds Sterling or the value thereof in the Money of the United States which Payment well and truely to be made we bind ourselves our Heirs and Executors this twenty third day of march one thousand seven hundred & Eighty.

The Condition of this Obligation is such that if the above named John Coggeshall shall behave, in consequence of a Commission or Letter of Marque dated [blank space] given him, or becomes a good Commander & faithfull Subject of the United States allways observing & obeying the Marine Laws and instructions of the Congress nor deviating from Laws and Regulations respecting neutral nations and all other Marine affairs then this Obligation [is] to be void & of none Efffect otherwise to remain in full fo[rce] and Virtue.
