On the Morning of the 12st instant, I took Leave to wait on your Excellency, informing you, that the Office of Auctioneer for the Northern Liberty was vacant, and that I proposd. applying for the same, which I did to your Excellency and to Councill on the same Day.

A large Number of Candidates have since offerd. themselves and Councill I am informd: have sett a part Friday next for the purpose of electing one of the Number. As Your Excellency has no further Knowledge of me than my being introducd. to you by Mr. John Lownes; you will pardon the Liberty I now take of informing your Excellency, that I am well known to Generals Muhlenberg Neville and Armstrong and to Capt. Boyd and according to their Report of me I doubt not; but your Excellency will determine whether to give me your Suffrage for that Office or not, if the former, which I would humbly presume I beg Leave to assure your Excellency, that I shall use every Effort in my power to render myself more worthy of your Excellencys Choice and deserving of your future Confidence. With Sentiments of the greatest Veneration and Respect, I have the honor to be Your Excellencys Most obedient and most humble Servant
