Calais 29th Juin 1779
Sir—

May I entreat the favour of you to Obtain me another pass from his Majesty, as a protection against any of his Vessels of War, or Privateers, that I might Chance to meet in my passage from England to Ireland; the pass I had the honour to recieve is now out of Date, & the officers, here, inform me that it is not any longer of use, so I left it with them—

I entreat your Excellency to pardon this repeated, and extraordinary trouble; I Know not how to apologize for this Liberty; I rely entirely on your Generosity for an Excuse—

I have the honour to be, with Every sentiment of Respect & Esteem, and Gratitude—Your Excellency’s Most Obliged and Most Obedient Humble Servant—
