To Edward Bridgen (unpublished)
Philada May 30. 1786
Dear old Friend,

I duly received your Favours of Nov. 7. and 29. I had written to you of the last of those Dates, acknowledging the Receipt of three from you, dated Aug. 2, 4, and Oct. 4. I have also received the several Letters you forwarded to me from the good Bishop and Dr. Price, with the Pamphlets. For your kind Care accept my Thanks.

I was sorry to learn by yours brought me in the Commerce, that your Affairs in Carolina had not been mended. I immediately wrote again to Governor Caswell, enclosing your Letter to him with yours and Mr. Adams’s to me. Herewith you have the Press Copy of my Letter.

I think you have some Partiality for little Pieces written by your Friends; I therefore venture to send you the enclos’d. It will give you a truer Idea of the State of this Part of the World, than that commonly afforded by your British Newspapers.

While I am writing comes to hand another Letter from you, without Date, but containing the very pleasing News, that your Estate in North Carolina is restor’d to you, on which I most heartily congratulate you. May every other kind of Prosperity and Felicity attend you, is the Prayer of Your affectionate Friend

B Franklin
