To Thomas Ruston (unpublished)
March 12. 1786.
Dear Sir,

I have perus’d with Pleasure your Letter, describing the Method you have used with Success for curing your smoky Chimneys, and at the same time increasing the Warmth of your Rooms, which I shall communicate to our Philosophical Society. Inclos’d I send for your Amusement a few of the first Sheets of our 2d Vol. of Transactions, which being on the same Subject and written by me, will show you how much in several Instances our Sentiments and Contrivances have had a Resemblance; a Circumstance that flatters me. When you have done with these Sheets, please to return them to me, as I shall want them to bind up with those that follow. With great Esteem, I am, Dear Sir, Your most obedient and most humble Servant
