I esteem myself highly honoured by the Congratulations of the Officers of a Militia which so greatly distinguished itself by its Zeal and Bravery in the Service of our Country during the late arduous Contest.

Your Concern for my Welfare is extreamly obliging. As long as I may have any Ability left of being useful to the Country its valiant Sons have so well defended, it will always be my Endeavour to promote the common Felicity of America
