The Reporteuer of my affair Demands that I prove that I am a Native of Philadelphia if your Exelency will be Kind Enough as you Know I am Realy from Philad. to Certify that I am Native of that Country you will Relive me from Plunching into a very unhappe affair

As I was arrested by Suspucton of being the partner of a Certian Saintiver who lived in the Same house with me and as the Canot prove aney thing against me those people have taken for Excuse to Say that I am an imposter and that if I was Realy a Native of America that my ambasadeuer would Not Refuse to Certify that I am a Native of Philadelphia therefore I hope your Exelency will Not Abandon me in my unhappe Situation or I am Lost Lost for Ever, my Liberty intirly depends upon your Goodness in Righting those few fowloing Lines Sir Sir, John Schaffer who you have arrested is a Native of Philadelphia a Son of David Shaffer, of a good family and who has allways Suported a very good Carracter in that Country I beg you will Render him Justis the inosance of my Cause Does Not Require aney any other protection your Exelency Certainly Sees the inosance of my Cause by my Request
