From John Dixon (unpublished)
Virginia, Richmond May 9, 1786
Sir

I am informed a person acquainted with the business of the of the Post Office is wanted in this place to act as Postmaster. I did that business several Years in Williamsburg before the Revolution and should be glad to undertake the management of that Office in this place, should the Gentlemen who have the direction thereof think proper to give me the appointment. A word from your Excellency in my favor on that head would have some weight with them. Mrs. Dixon joins in wishing you every felicity with, Sir, Your most obedient and very humble servant.

John Dixon.
