Edward Bancroft to William Temple Franklin (unpublished)
Sunday morning 8 o’Clock.
My Dear Sir

I am very much afraid that a Letter which I wrote Mr. Hodgson by Mr. Oswald may mislead him, and occasion him a Loss; to prevent which I determine this morning to send over to England Mr. Peter Fowler with another Letter, and I must therefore beg you will do me the favour of Procuring & sending me as speedily as possible a Passport from Your Grandfather, for Mr. Fowler to go by the way of Calais. my servant will wait to receive it and any Commands which you may have for London or otherwhise which will not occasion delay. I wish however that nothing may be mentionned or known of this Journey for Obvious reasons.—matters are drawing to an immediate and favourable Conclusion. I am in haste my Dear Friend most Sincerely and affectionately Yours

Edwd. Bancroft
