Dear Friend

Mr. Ellicott, a Gentleman of excellent Character here, a Native of this Country, and one of our most ingenious and accurate Astronomers, and Surveyors, will have the Honour of presenting you this Line, the intention of which is merely to recommend him to your Civilities as a Stranger of Merit; for which I am persuaded you will thank me, as you will find him possess’d of much useful Information, and pleasing Conversation.
