Know all men by these Presents That we John Nicholson and James Irwin of the City of Philadelphia, and James Duncan of the County of York are held and firmly bound unto his Excellency Benjamin Franklin Esqre. President of the Supreme Executive Council of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Captain General and Commander in Chief in and over the same in the sum of two Thousd. pounds to be paid to the said Benjamin Franklin Esqre. or to his Successor in the said Office. To the which payment well and truly to be made we bind ourselves jointly and Severally for and in the whole our, Heirs, Executors and Administrators, firmly by these presents Sealed with our Seals dated the Second day of October in the Year of Lord one Thousand Seven hundred and Eighty Seven, The Constitution of this Obligation is such that if the above bounden John Nicholson Shall well and faithfully Execute and perform the duties of his Office as Escheater General of this Commonwealth—According to an Act, of the General Asembly passed the twenty ninth day of Septemr. 1787 intituled “An Act to declare and Regulate Escheats” for and during the term of Seven Years from the date hereof then the above Obligation to be void otherwise be and remain in full force and Virtue John Nicholson [seal indicated] James Irwin [seal indicated] James Duncan [seal indicated] Sealed and delivered in the presence of us Archd.
