Necessity induces me to trouble your Exellency for Relief from a Situation, (to which I am reduced by misfortune) truly deplorable. Some months ago I sailed from Ireland for America with my Wife, Child and some little property. Providence so ordered it, that the Vessell, in which I embarked, was wrecked. My Wife and Child were drowned, every thing but the Cloathes I had on me lost. Terror and Grief threw me into Epileptic Fits, which ever since I have had twice a Day. The humanity of the Managers and physicians of the pennsylvania Hospital have induced them to admit me a patient of their House that I may have a Chance of Relief from this cruel Disease. I am entirely destitute of a Change of Cloathes, and hope the Benevolence prodominant in your Exellency’s Character will induce you to order some to defend me from the Inclemency of the Weather. That Heaven may afford your Exellency every Blessing is the ardent prayer of
