Wheras By a declaration Given at Passy on the 9th of june You Have so far as it lies in Your power thought proper to discharge lord Cornwallis of His parole Until Congress’s pleasure is known the Reasons of Which discharge are fully Mentioned in said declaration, and Wheras N. N. N. Aids de Camp to lord Cornwallis Have certified that orders were sent to America to propose to General Washington theyr Immediate Exchange for American officers of the same Rank Agralle to the terms of a Cartel. Thus it probably May Be settled Between His Excellcy General Washington And the British Commander in chief, You do By this declaration (and Under a supposition the Exchange of those Gentlemen has Been, or is going to be    in America) discharge them also of their paroles Under the same You Have thought Necessary to Mention in the declarion delusive to the Exchange of lieutenant General lord Cornwallis.
