Honored Sir/

The acquaintance and friendship which formerly Subsisted between us encourage me to hope that you will honor my Son Henry Pawling and Grandson Greenberry Dansey with letters of recommendation to Such Gentlemen as they shall mention to you. If I know my Children, I think you may venture to give them the character of honest men. They purpose Shortly to Set out for Kentucky and from thence to New Orlains upon a trading Voyage. A line from you may do them much service, and shall ever be thankfully acknowledged. It will also be an acceptable testimony of your Still remembring your old friend and very humble Servant.
