Dear Brother

You have given me Good Pleasure in the short acount you have wrot concerning my Granson, for you not to Percive that he wants Eitr Advice or Reproff is a good Charecter, but I percive you have some Exeptions to the Lose of your Advice and I flater my self I am won.

I am glad you have received the Soap and Like it I wish to know whither the first United as I hoped.

I percive you have keept the 4th, July very Honourably as well as Joyfully, we also observed as Usal but we had so Lately Celebrated the opening the Bridge on Charles River being a New thing that the other was not so much Noticed in our Papers. You will I hope Next Spring have the Pleasur of Seeing it your self, it is Realy a charming Place they have Leveled the Riseing Ground that Led to it and Nicely Paved it, that at some Distance as you Aproach to it it is a Beautifull sight with a Litle Vilidg at the other End the Buldings all New, the Prospect on Each side is Delightfull, I frequent go on the Hill for sake of the Prospect and the walk, and if I tell you I have wonce walkd over I sopose you wont allow it as grat a feeat as your walking ten miles before Breakfast, but I am strongly Inclined to Alow it my self, all circumstances considered, It is thought the Tol Gatherers Recved yesterday being Comencement Day five Hundred Dolars, Prehaps it may only be an Extravagant Geus, I beleve Josiah is quite a Proficient in your new mode of Spelling he has wrot me a Leter I beleve Perfectly Right I can Read it very well but Dar not atempt to wright it I have such a Poor Fackulty at making Leters; I think Sir and madam wore very deficient in Sagasity that they could not find out if I as well as Bety, but some times the Betys has the Brightst understanding.

Dr. Price thinks Thousand of Boyles Clarks and Newtons have Probably been lost to the world, and lived and died in Ignorans and meanness, mearly for want of being Placed in favourable situations, and Injoying Proper Advantages, very few we know is Able to beat thro all Impedements and Arive to any Grat Degre of superiority in Understanding.
