To Vergennes (unpublished)
Passy, May 1. 1785.
Sir,

I received the Letter you did me the honour of writing to me the 28th. past, inclosing a Memoir of Jean Orillard. Mr. Williams, I understand is now absent in England with the Consent and in the Service of his Creditors being employ’d in collecting for them the Debts due to him. I shall write to him, and obtain from him the Eclaircissements required. By what I have formerly heard, the Transaction related in the Memoir is much misrepresented. I am with great Respect, Sir, Your Excellency’s most obedient and most humble Servant

B. Franklin

M. Le Comte de Vergennes.
