From Mary Stevenson Hewson (unpublished)
Wednesday Feb. 14. 1787
Dear Sir

I received last night by Mr. Bache £177 10s. for the bill of exchange for £100 sterg. and I signed the other two bills you sent. The rain prevented my going out to day or I should have been with you to consult about putting out to interest at least £100. and the rest I shall place in the Bank to draw for as I want it. I reckoned upon fair weather or I should have told this to Mr. B. last night, but I find American skies are as variable as the English, so I shall give up the expectation of finding anything constant in either Hemisphere except a few Friendships and I hope among them will ever be that between you and your affectionate

Mary Hewson
