The Earl of Stanhope to Benjamin Vaughan (unpublished)
Chevening near sevenoaks Kent. Oct 9th. 1786
Dear Sir

May I beg the favour of you to inform Dr Franklin & the other Gentlemen who signed the Certificate from the Philosophical Society at Philada., intended for my late worthy Father, that I have had the misfortune to loose him in March last.—A truer Philosopher, or a more virtuous Citizen probably never existed.

I have been pursuing my Experiments of late on the Calcarious Cements &c. with great Success.

Believe me Ever, Dear Sir, Most sincerely Yrs.—

Stanhope.

B. Vauhan Esqr.
