Samuel Vaughan, Jr. to William Temple Franklin (unpublished)
Sunday 1./. oClock.
Dear Sir,

That the pleasure to receive an invitation to dinner from Dr. Franklin last Friday, for Sunday the 30 Inst; which I immediately answered in the affirmation, for this day, supposing the date an oversight: however, Mr. Ridley informs me today, that he has received a note, mentioning Wednesday instead of Sunday. In consequence, I suppose the intention of the note, your Grandfather was so kind as to favor me with, was for the 30th. Inst; when I will do myself the honor to pay my respects to you & Dr. Franklin, if I do not hear to the contrary.

Mr. Whitefoord sets out in less than an hour for England. I beg my most affectionate respects to Dr. Franklin, & remain with great esteem, Dear Sir, Your obliged friend & hble Sevt.,

Samuel Vaughan Junr.
