In answer to your Excellencys enquiries I have the Honour to inform you that during my Residence as a Merchant at Nantes, I was subjected to militia Duty, to the quartering of Troops, and to Town Taxes. The former it is true never obliged an appearance, because the Duty was confined to a City Patrole, which I could always find a Man to perform. In these and other Duties I was placed exactly on a Par with other Citizens. I have the Honour to be Your Excellencies most obedient servant
