I receiv’d your Letter of the 19th past by the hand of your Nephew. In compliance with your former Request, I sent your Memoir to the Secretary of Congress. Whether it was ever receiv’d I have not heard. I apprehend indeed that you have entertain’d higher Expectations from the Application than are likely to be realiz’d. It is certain that my Influence in such cases, which you seem much to depend upon, is in truth very little. I am, Sir, Your most obedient humble Servant
