I the underwritten Minister Plenipotentiary from the United States of America to the Court of France, have perused the Procès verbaux or Examinations taken before the Judges of the Admiralty at Brest, and communicated to me by Monseigneur de Sartine Minister of the Marine, relating to the following Captures and Ransoms made by the Black Prince, Capt. Merchant, an American Privateer, between the 17th and the 20th of July 1779 xiz The Brigantine Reward, Capt. James Fitch, ransomed for £150 Sterling, Isaac Bunker, Ransomer or Hostage. The Brigantine Diligence, Captain John Bowen, ransomed for £367 of Sterling, Edmund Arundol, Ransomer The Sloop Friends Adventure, Capt. Richard Dalton ransomed for £270 Sterling John Griffith Ransomer. The Brigantine New Blessing, Capt. Robert Tedbal, ransomed for £147 Sterling, Robert Franks, Ransomer. The Brigantine Mathew and Sally, Capt. John Court, ransomed for £126 Sterling, Thomas Thomas, Ransomer The Sloop Resolution, Capt John Wells, ransomed for £150 Sterling, John Morris, Ransomerl The Sloop Betty, Capt. Walter Arnal, ransomed for £158 Sterling, John White Ransomer. The   Salton, Capt. Jonathan Dawson, ransomed for £100 Sterling, Joseph Wilson Ransomer.

All which Captures * appear to me from the said Procès Verbaux or Examinations of the Captors and Ransomers, had before the said Court of Admiralty, to be good and Lawful Prizes, being taken from the Enimies of the United States of America, by Virtue of a Commission from the Congress of the said States. And I Do therefore pray the Judges of the fair Court, that the said ~y7 Hostages or Ransomers may be securely detained, until the respective Sums are paid for which they stand engaged.
