Dear Sir

Give me leave to introduce to your Acquaintance & Civilities, the Bearer Captain Hoops, Brother in Law to my very particular Friend Mr Barclay, appointed Consul General for the United States in France—He is a brave young Soldier, but has had the misfortune of being made a Prisoner; & not having been able to effect his Exchange, has obtained a Furlough for a few Months, to accompany his Sister to France—Your Notice & Attention to him will greatly oblige Your affectionate Kinsman
