My dear friend

Your favor of 1 Jany came duely to hand You have without doubt since received one from me of same date which had it got to hand sooner would have freed you from the trouble of making an apology & answering my letter from Pons—It will however hinder me from taking any other notice of the latter part of your kind letter, than to thank you most cordially for the attachment you have shown me upon this & other occasions & the condescendy goodness of yr Grandfather in offering to take me as it were under his protection—The watch is arrived without any accident & it is just what I wished to have—I remit you enclosed a draft for the 15 Louïs—I.C. Schaleh ávue à mon ordre sur Mes. Tourton & Baur de Paris—I am exceedingly obliged you for the kind attention paid to my commission & beg you will except my excuses for trouble it gave you—Pray present my humble respects to yr Grandfather & believe me to be with the greatest sincerity Your friend & servant at command
