From J. Marky (unpublished)

Most worthy Sir

These few lines are addressed to you by one who has nothing Else to recommend him to your notice but his being the Successor of a Person who had the honour of your acquaintance, last year, at Passy, and whom you were pleased to honour with Several Marks of attention. I mean, the late Doctor Cahill, Superiour of the Irish Seminary in Paris, who died the 10th. of December last as universally regretted as he was loved and Esteemed. What makes me take the liberty of troubling you on this occasion is that I would desire to learn the safest way to convey a letter to Charles County in Maryland and that I knew no Person so fit to instruct me as your Excellency, nor more ready to oblige. I beg a thousand Pardons for this freedom, and am with unlimited respect Most worthy Sir your Most humble and most obedient Servant
