Jonathan Williams, Jr. to William Temple Franklin (unpublished)
Nantes Augt. 9. 1781.
my dear Friend

I have recd your two Favours, one by last Post & one by this. My Time is short, as I have written so much, & have so much Business to do, therefore pray excuse my brevity. If Mr Young will come hither I shall be glad to see him, & will do all I can for him. I can make no promises, but what I cannot do he may depend on my endeavours to influence others to do for him, in either Case I must see & converse with him before he can form a Judgment of me or I of him, & as you are as well acquainted with me as I am with myself you can tell what sort of a man he may expect to see.

I will answer you next Post about Capt. Collyer.—I am yours affectionately

J Williams Jr
