From William MacCreery (unpublished)

I mean every Friend to America, has to him, it must afford him some consolation under his unmerited misfortunes on our Coast. The only fault they can find in his whole conduct is his having too much exposed his Person. I hear also that the amiable Marquis de La Fayette is gone to America. What a Joyfull arrival, to all America, will his be!

I have News Papers and Journals of Congress which I received from Mr. Lovell for you, which I shall forward to you by Captain Fray, an officer of the Late Count Paulaski’s Legion, who purposes setting out for Paris in a day or two.

If Mr. Adams be near you, pray give my humble Respects to him. If not have the Goodness to tell me where he is, that I may do my self the Pleasure of Writing to him. I have the Honor to be with the greatest Respect. Sir Your most obedient and most Humble Servant
