To Robert Morris (unpublished)
Passy 19. Jan. 82.
Dear Sir,

I beg leave to recommend to your Civilities and Patronage the Bearer, Mr. John Vaughan, (no Relation to the Genl. of that Name), and a very worthy Young Man, He goes to America with an Intention of settling himself, there in the Commercial Line: and has the Consent of his Parents, my good Friends, for so doing. His Residence for a considerable time past on the Continent has made him acquainted with the French and Spanish Languages and his having been long in a Merchants compting House has been the Means of his acquiring some Commercial Knowledge.

I am persuaded that on Acquaintance you will find him worthy of the Favours I ask for him With sincere and great Esteem, I am, Dear Sir, &c.
