From Continental Congress: Resolution re Bills of Franklin and Jay (unpublished)
In Congress May 19th. 1780

Resolved That Bills be immediately drawn under the Direction of the Board of Treasury, on the Honorable Doctor Benjn. Franklin for twenty five thousand dollars, and on the Honorable John Jay for twenty five thousand dollars, payable at sixty days Sight: That they be offered for Sale in Massachusetts Bay, Rhode Island, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, Maryland and Virginia in the following Proportions vizt.

Massachusetts Bay,- - - - - - - -20,000.
Rhode Island,- - - - - - - - - - -3,000.
Connecticut,- - - - - - - - - - - -8,000.
Pennsylvania,- - - - - - - - - - -10,000.
Maryland,- - - - - - - - - - - - -5,000.
Virginia,- - - - - - - - - - - - - -4,000.50,000

Resolved That the Money to be raised as aforesaid, be appropriated and applied solely to the bringing the Army into the Field, and forwarding their Supplies in such Manner, as the Exigency and Nature of the Service may require. Extract from the Minutes
