To Rodolphe-Ferdinand Grand (unpublished)
Philada. June 7. 1788
Dear Friend,

I have received the several Favours from you and your House of Feb. 5 and 8, March 15 and 20. One of the Drafts for £75 Sterl. Ord. Zantzinger is come back protested, and I have agreed to give him a fresh Set, if the next Packet does not bring an Account that another of the old Set has been paid. He has only himself to blame for the Delay, and is sensible of it.

In my last I acknowledged the Receipt of the Regulus of Antimony, and of the Worsted Laine de Tapisserie and Knitting Needles, &c. My Daughter has already work’d up the Worsted, and requests the Favour of Madame Grand, to send her ten Pounds more of the same by the first Opportunity. The Box with the Electric Glass is not arriv’d; probably it arriv’d too late at Havre for the last Pacquet, and will come by the next.

Eight States having now ratify’d our new Constitution, we want but one more to carry it into Execution. So that there remains little Doubt of its being finally establish’d, and we expect great Advantages from it. For tho’ it is suppos’d that some States may at present refuse it, the Probability is that they will all in time find it for their Interest to accede to it.

My eldest Grandson is at his Plantation from whence he will write to you. Benjamin has begun his Business here, as a Printer and Type-founder, and with the rest of us who are all well, Thanks to God, joins in best Wishes of Health and Happiness for you and yours. I am ever, my dear Friend &ca (Signed)

B. Franklin
