From James Falls (unpublished)
Ostend 10 July 1781
Sir

Tho’ unknown to your Excellency, I am under many Obligations, for the countenance you were pleased to show Mr. Robert Montgomery & Co. of Alicante, who was my associate in business before the dispute between Spain and England, and who I now claim as the Sincerest of my freinds. As I could not claim the priviledge as he did by being a Native of Ireland, tho’ not an Enemy to your Cause. I was oblig’d to give over the thoughts of returning by the orders of Mr. Moses Young, to send to your care any letters for him—it has given me the opportunity of addressing Your Excellency, and to make a tender of my best Services, assuring that I am with the greatest respect—Your Excellencys Most Obedient and most humble servant.
