Chestnuthil Novemb. 1. 1785.
Sir

Enclosed a Letter to the Secretary of Congress, with my Jeu d’Esprit, which I submite to Your Excellencys Supperior Judgment: as I Spoke to no one living a single word about it Except to You Sir and the two Ladies then in Your Parloir, the Whole may be Supressed very Easely, if disaproved of, and the letter as well as the nonsacall fancy therein may be annihilated without any ill consequence. If Your Exellency would condescend to see me for a few Minuts I may be heard of at Mr. Ehrenzellers in 4 Street next the Accademy I have the Honour to be with the Greatest respect Your Excellencys Most obedient Most humble and Most devoted Servant

M. S.

His Excelly. Governor Franklin.
