I hope Your Exilenz will pardon my Liberty of addressing my self to You: When I assure that Nessessity Obliged me to do it. I once had the honour of calling my self a favourite of his deceised Majesty the King of Prussia, under Whoms protection I might have spended my days in Comforth; but a sacred[?] desier to see his Exelenz George Washington and this Country which was at that time the whole intertainment of the World brought me here; I left my Parents and Relation, and my Country, and came with a Tollerable Estate sufficient to make anny Man life happy over to Philadelphia, when I had the Misfortune to loose tro[?] a Cousin of mine all most I had; then out of shame for them peaple which Knowed me I resolved to go to Virg: where I joined with a Man born there in a shmall[?] Negotiation but after three Years time in my absence he went of and robed me of [every] thing I had: in this misfortune I went to Baltimore sai[led?] there in a  ?  and would have died if it had not be [for?] the worthy Brethren there which asisted me to come here, where I espected to meet with Charity: but in Va[in?] till ladly, when one of my Country Man gave me a fiew Articles to begin a lidle Schop: where I am satisfied, I would have help’d my self with; if not one unespected Circumstans;  ?  me to trow my hopes to Bottom; one Man of Virg: where our Comp[any?] owed[?] Sp   to has suet me: and I am not able to raise the Monney without some Gentlement, will be kind anoff to assist [me?]. I therefor take the Liberty to adress my self to Your Exilenz: on this Occasion: The high Idea which I have from Your Exilenz noble sentiments and the Thoughts that I have the honour to be United in a sacred bond to You lets me hope that Your Exilenz will accept this petion favorable[?], which will bind me in Duty to pray our grand Master above for Your Exelenz protection, and prosperity.

Should Your Exilenz doubt the Varasity of my Circumstance, please to Inquire at Mr. Heinrich Hellmuth, Minister of the German Church: which will tell You; that this is The Truth and nothing but the Truth.

Lastly I must beg You to pardon the faults herein made and to consider that the writer of it is a German: troe this Your Exilenz will most greatly oblige Your most humble and most obeidient Servant
